Bearing Birth Podcast

This episode is part 1 of a two part series called before/after birth. We are excited to welcome Sophie’s neighbor and friend Cailley, who bravely shares her experiences from the difficulty of her first pregnancy loss ending at 11 weeks to the joys of her current pregnancy at 37 weeks. At the time of recording, Cailley finds herself in the nesting stage bursting with energy, while also learning the importance of taking time to rest as physical discomfort increases.

We also discuss deciding on and preparing for a home birth, particularly the role of the partner and establishing open communication of values and needs. It's a dance of ensuring both expectant parents feel secure, respected, and motivated on this journey to parenthood. Cailley reveals the unknowns of her pregnancy journey, how she and her husband coped through their miscarriage and how she found a second midwife team after her first choice was not the right fit.
