Bearing Birth

Our Partnership is the Centerpiece | Rashida, Part 2

Bearing Birth Podcast Season 2 Episode 6

In this episode of Bearing Birth, we continue our conversation with Rashida Quinn, the Program Director of the Alliance of Black Nurses Association of Oregon and host of two powerful podcasts, Black Care Matters and Dark Matters. Rashida, a former doula, poet, and advocate for restorative justice, joins us to discuss her postpartum journey as part of an interracial couple navigating complex decisions to protect the wellbeing of her young family.

In part two of this conversation, Rashida offers a candid perspective on the Black experience in a healthcare system deeply rooted in systemic racism. Her insights shed light on the emotional and social challenges of postpartum life, particularly for BIPOC mothers and birthing individuals.

Resources and support groups for BIPOC individuals, as well as those mentioned by Rashida, are included in the description below. We hope you find this conversation as impactful as we did.
